For the second installment of our debut Forge in Focus podcast episode, “Meet the CCO,” Chief Compliance Officer Jim Raper continues his conversation with Due Diligence Analyst Colin Berger to discuss current trends in private securities, including how recent economic forecasts are driving more interest in alternative investments:
“We do a lot of business in tax-advantaged, syndicated commercial real estate investment transactions [because] real estate is somewhat uncorrelated to overall market trends; real estate tends to perform better. Those are broad, general statements and an individual project may not follow that trend, and so it’s important to understand some of the attributes of the sponsor that brings the product to market, the actual demographics wrapped around that product, and then the overall investment objectives of what an investor may have for that.”
